Lindsay Clancy trial ends in mistrial after hung jury

A mistrial has been declared in the high-profile case of Lindsay Clancy, who is accused of the January 2023 strangulation deaths of her three children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan, in Duxbury, Massachusetts. The trial ended in a deadlock after the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict, reportedly split 11-1. The lone holdout juror, Michael Desronvil, has since spoken publicly, stating he had no doubts regarding Clancy's criminal responsibility and believed she knew what she was doing.

Lindsay Clancy's defense team has argued that her actions were the result of postpartum psychosis, a severe mental health condition. Patrick Clancy, the children's father and Lindsay's ex-husband, spoke in a CBS News '60 Minutes' interview, stating that he has forgiven his ex-wife, attributing the tragedy to her mental illness. He also shared the emotional toll of the case, including a panic attack he suffered while testifying.

Following the mistrial, the defense has requested a judicial inquiry into the holdout juror's background and cellphone use. Prosecutors are currently considering whether to seek a retrial.
