Lindsay Clancy murder trial ends in mistrial amid juror misconduct allegations

The murder trial of Lindsay Clancy in Massachusetts has ended in a mistrial after the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict. The jury vote was reportedly 11 to 1 in favor of finding Clancy not criminally responsible, with Michael Desronvil being the sole juror to favor a guilty verdict.

Clancy's defense team, led by Kevin Reddington, has filed motions to dismiss the case and has requested a court investigation into the conduct of a juror. The defense alleges that a juror may have used a cellphone during deliberations and provided untruthful information on jury questionnaires. In response, Desronvil's attorney, Edward Paltzik, characterized the defense's motion as an “absurd attack” on a citizen performing their civic duty. Desronvil has denied allegations of misconduct and maintained that he had no doubts regarding Clancy's knowledge of her actions.

Judge William Sullivan has ordered an extension of an impoundment order to keep juror names and questionnaires private, citing risks of personal harm to the jurors due to the intense public and international attention the case has received. The defense continues to argue that Clancy should not be held criminally responsible due to postpartum psychosis at the time of the deaths of her three children.
