A jury in Plymouth, Massachusetts, has entered deliberations in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, a 36-year-old former nurse accused of killing her three children in January 2023. The children, Cora (5), Dawson (3), and Callan (8 months), were strangled with exercise bands at the family home in Duxbury.

The central dispute of the trial concerns Clancy's mental state. Her defense argues she was suffering from postpartum psychosis, a rare condition involving hallucinations and delusions, and should not be held criminally responsible. Prosecutors contend the killings were a premeditated and calculated act, noting that Clancy had planned the deaths and ensured her husband was away from the house at the time.

Judge William Sullivan has instructed the jury that they may consider a manslaughter conviction if they find the prosecution has not met the burden of proof required for first-degree murder. If convicted of murder, Clancy faces life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. The jury has held multiple sessions of deliberations and has requested to examine physical evidence, including a knife and prescription pill bottles.
