Lindsay Clancy trial centers on evidence deal and postpartum psychosis claims
The murder trial of Massachusetts mother Lindsay Clancy, accused of strangling her three children—Cora (5), Dawson (3) and infant Callan (8 months)—on Jan. 24, 2023, is underway in Plymouth Superior Court. Prosecutors allege premeditation; the defense argues she suffered postpartum psychosis.
Earlier this week Clancy signed a stipulation allowing prosecutors to treat certain forensic evidence—blood, DNA, exercise bands—as already proven, after a state police trooper testified no usable fingerprints were recovered from the knife or bands. Judge William Sullivan found her competent and entered the agreement voluntarily.
Former nanny Elaine Rossi testified that Clancy was a caring mother, describing the children affectionately and saying she never feared for their safety. Rossi also noted Clancy’s weight loss, sleep problems and postpartum medication use.
Medical examiner Dr. Kimberly Springer described autopsy findings on Callan, including neck abrasions and puncture wounds from attempted IV insertion, confirming strangulation as cause of death.
In a separate development, Clancy’s ex‑husband Patrick Clancy remarried Dr. Rachel Danis, a reproductive endocrinologist, in April 2026.
The case has drawn renewed attention to postpartum psychosis, a rare condition affecting roughly 1‑2 per 1,000 births, and sparked public debate about mental‑health screening.
