Lindsey Vonn Returns to Gym After Olympic Crash

American ski legend Lindsey Vonn, 41, posted gym selfies showing she is back on her feet after a severe downhill crash at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. The accident left her with a broken leg, multiple surgeries and a period in a wheelchair. In her Instagram update she wrote, “I’m so happy and excited I can’t even put it into words,” while smiling on a soft‑floor mat.

Vonn, a four‑time overall World Cup champion and 2010 Olympic gold‑medalist, said another operation is planned to remove metal implants and treat her cruciate ligament. A return to competitive skiing is unlikely before the 2027/28 season. After retiring in 2019, she attempted a comeback in 2025 with a knee partial prosthesis, and the current recovery marks a further step toward resuming her athletic career.
