Lindsey Vonn returns to gym four months after Olympic crash

U.S. ski legend Lindsey Vonn, 41, posted gym footage four months after a horrific crash at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo. The downhill accident caused a complex fracture of her left tibia, a torn ACL and compartment syndrome, requiring emergency surgery and a period in a wheelchair.

In her Instagram update Vonn performed squats, Bulgarian split‑squats and balance‑mat drills without the bulky leg brace she had previously worn. She captioned the video, "Makes me so happy and excited I can't even put it into words!" She said a further operation is planned to remove metal implants and treat the cruciate ligament, making a competitive return unlikely before the 2027‑28 season. Vonn was also listed among the 48 skiers nominated for the U.S. Alpine Ski Team for 2026‑27, keeping her comeback hopes alive.
