Lindsey Vonn warns fans of social media impersonation scams

American skiing legend Lindsey Vonn has issued an urgent warning to her followers regarding a surge in social media scams. In a video posted to Instagram, the 41-year-old athlete revealed that numerous fraudulent accounts are impersonating her, her family members, and her team to solicit money or sensitive personal information.

Vonn emphasized that she will never use social media to ask for donations, gifts, or private financial details. She clarified that she only uses verified accounts with a blue checkmark and is not active on platforms like WhatsApp or Telegram for such purposes. She urged fans to report any fake profiles they encounter on platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter).

Separately, Vonn noted she is recovering from a significant knee injury sustained during the February Olympics and is scheduled for another surgery in November to repair a torn cruciate ligament.
