Lindt & Sprüngli cuts 2026 sales growth forecast
Lindt & Sprüngli has lowered its organic sales growth forecast for 2026 to a range of 0% to 2%, down from a previous projection of 4% to 6%. This marks the second downward revision this year.
CEO Adalbert Lechner attributed the decline to high consumer price sensitivity and an unprecedented summer heatwave in Europe, which dampened demand for chocolate products. The company noted that order volumes were lower than expected, particularly in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. These challenges were compounded by historically high cocoa prices, which had previously forced the company to implement significant price increases.
Despite the sales outlook, Lindt confirmed its target to improve its EBIT margin by 20 to 40 basis points for 2026. The company plans to respond to current market conditions through an adjusted pricing strategy, increased brand investment, and cost-saving measures. Looking ahead to 2027, the group expects a return to positive volume growth as cocoa prices stabilize and new products are introduced.
