LINE Digital Frontier to invest 10 billion yen in Japanese content
LINE Digital Frontier has announced a plan to invest approximately 10 billion yen over the next three years to strengthen the development and expansion of original content from Japan. The investment aims to bolster in-house production, foster collaborations with partner companies, and provide support for individual creators.
During a recent press conference, Yongsu Kim, President of WEBTOON Entertainment and Representative Director of LINE Digital Frontier, emphasized the company's mission to transform Japanese content into a global phenomenon. The strategy focuses on leveraging Japan's vast pool of talented creators and diverse genres to reach international audiences through a global content platform.
Additional initiatives include a partnership with HAYATE and Crunchyroll to produce approximately 15 animated series based on WEBTOON works. The company also highlighted its upcoming digital comic service collaboration with Marvel Comics, which is scheduled to launch in November and will feature over 35,000 titles, including works from Star Wars and 20th Century Studios.
