LINE introduces call recording and transcription features

LINE Yahoo has launched a new feature called ‘Call Recording’ for its communication app, LINE. Currently being rolled out through ‘LINE Lab’, the feature allows users to record one-on-one voice calls, transcribe them into text, and record video calls.

To ensure transparency, the app will play an audio guidance notification to both participants when recording begins, and a ‘Recording’ indicator will appear on both screens. Transcription is currently limited to Japanese language voice calls and is not available for video calls.

While the feature is free to all users during its testing phase in LINE Lab, it is scheduled to become a paid benefit starting this winter. It will be included in the ‘LYP Premium Standard Plan’ and the ‘LYP Premium with Netflix’ subscription tiers.
