LINE Yahoo delays PayPay account integration following regulatory guidance

LINE Yahoo is expected to delay the planned integration of LINE messaging accounts with PayPay mobile payment accounts. While the integration was originally intended to allow users to send PayPay balances and split bills directly within LINE chats, the timeline has been pushed back.

The delay is reportedly due to the need for extensive safety and security verifications regarding user information protection. This follows administrative guidance issued by Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on July 31, which addressed the unauthorized transmission of approximately 8 million user identifiers via the ‘LINE Games’ app. LINE Yahoo is now conducting more cautious safety checks in response to these regulatory requirements.
