LINE Yahoo scales Agent i AI agent production to 10x capacity

LINE Yahoo is aggressively expanding its AI agent brand, Agent i, aiming to increase production capacity tenfold. The company has already expanded its service from seven functional domains in April 2026 to 27 domains in August, reaching 12 million daily active users.

To accelerate development, Chief Product Officer Junho Shin is leading a company-wide task force. By integrating AI-driven development processes, the company has reportedly reduced prototype turnaround times from three months to 1.5 months. The company plans to expand to 40 domains by October 2026 and will release Agent i as a standalone mobile application in October 2026.

The expansion of AI agents is also impacting the e-commerce landscape. AI-driven distribution through these agents accounted for 20% of total transactions as of July. This shift allows smaller retailers and direct-to-consumer brands to compete more effectively by bypassing traditional large-scale marketplace advantages, potentially disrupting the business models of major players like Amazon.
