Lineage Logistics Ordered to Strengthen Odor Controls at Boyle Heights Warehouse
After a June 17 fire destroyed a cold‑storage warehouse in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, Lineage Logistics has been removing more than 85 million pounds of rotting food. The blaze left the site emitting a strong foul odor that has attracted rats and flies and made outdoor activities uncomfortable for nearby residents.
The South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) logged over 900 odor complaints in a single week and has issued multiple notices of violation, directing Lineage to submit a more robust odor‑mitigation plan by a Tuesday deadline. Los Angeles City Councilmember Ysabel Jurado criticized the existing measures, urging a detailed corrective‑action plan that includes pest‑control, documentation of truckloads removed, and measurable effectiveness. AQMD warned it may petition its hearing board for further legal action if the company’s response is insufficient.
