Lineage Logistics sues Altus Power over Boyle Heights warehouse fire
Lineage Logistics has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against Altus Power Inc. and its contractor, Pearce Services, alleging they were responsible for a massive warehouse fire in Boyle Heights.
The fire, which occurred on June 17 at a cold-storage facility operated by Lineage, burned for over a week. The legal action claims negligence, negligent supervision, breach of contract, and health and safety code violations. Lineage contends that the fire originated from the building’s rooftop solar array.
The incident led to a complex, two-month cleanup process that resulted in noxious odors and pest issues for the surrounding community, for which Lineage faced various fines. Lineage CEO Greg Lehmkuhl stated the company is seeking to recover substantial losses incurred during the remediation efforts. A representative for Los Palos Street Operating, a subsidiary of Altus, denied the allegations, suggesting Lineage is attempting to deflect responsibility.
