Linera begins winding down operations after failed token sale
Linera, a Layer 1 blockchain project, has begun winding down its operations after failing to secure sufficient funding to reach its mainnet launch. The project, which previously raised approximately $12 million from investors including a16z Crypto and Borderless Capital, faced a critical shortfall during its LNRA community token sale on Sonar.
The sale attracted roughly $848,271 in commitments, falling significantly short of the $1.5 million minimum threshold required for the offering to proceed. Consequently, Linera has refunded all committed funds to participants. Following the unsuccessful sale, founder Mathieu Baudet announced that emergency financing efforts also failed to provide enough capital to maintain development or sustain the project through its mainnet phase.
As part of the wind-down, the team is gradually closing applications and taking its Discord community offline. While the team expressed hope to complete the technology at a later date, no new timetable or funding sources have been identified. Additionally, the team noted that existing community points carry no guaranteed future rights, financial benefits, or token allocations.
