Lingen police conclude investigation into attacks on officers

The Emsland/Grafschaft Bentheim police investigation into attacks on officers in Lingen's city center has concluded. The incidents, which occurred on the night of July 17–18, resulted in minor injuries to six police officers.

An eleven-member investigation team utilized witness statements and video footage provided by the public to reconstruct the events. This evidence led to the initiation of 25 criminal proceedings against eight suspects, aged between 18 and 37. All suspects are German nationals, including two women.

The cases have been forwarded to the Osnabrück Public Prosecutor's Office for legal evaluation. Authorities have issued residency bans for two suspects until early next year, while the remaining individuals are being reviewed for potential bans regarding the upcoming Old Town Festival.
