Brazil: Man dies after falling into father's grave

Adilson Marsaro, a 48-year-old man, died following a freak accident at the São José Municipal Cemetery in Linhares, Espírito Santo, Brazil. The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 21, while Marsaro was attending the funeral of a close friend who had died in a traffic accident.

According to reports, Marsaro stepped away from the funeral service to visit his father's resting place. When he sat on the concrete gravestone, the structure suddenly collapsed, causing him to fall into the grave shaft below. The loud noise of the collapse alerted nearby mourners, who summoned emergency services, but medical responders could only confirm his death at the scene.

Local authorities, including the Espírito Santo Civil Police and Prosecutor's Office, are investigating the circumstances of the collapse. The Linhares City Hall expressed condolences to the family and issued a warning to the public to exercise extra caution when visiting cemeteries, particularly with the Day of the Dead holiday approaching.
