LinkedIn reduces AI-generated content visibility by 40 percent

LinkedIn has reported significant success in reducing the visibility of low-quality, AI-generated content, referred to as ‘AI slop,’ following the introduction of a new reporting feature. Since its launch on July 30, the ‘Seems like AI slop’ button has been used by more than one million users.

Chief Product Officer Hari Srinivasan stated that posts identified as AI slop have seen a 40 percent reduction in views compared to previous weeks. To combat the influx of automated content—which a study by Pangram suggested accounts for 41 percent of long-form posts on the platform—LinkedIn has updated its classifiers to detect common AI linguistic patterns.

In addition to the reporting tool, LinkedIn has removed its ‘Enhance’ feature, which previously allowed users to use AI to automatically rewrite posts. The platform is also implementing increased transparency by notifying creators when their content is flagged by members, helping them understand how their posts are being received by the community.
