LinkedIn study shows Gen Z and Millennials thriving in AI job market

A LinkedIn study reveals that while younger workers face a difficult broader labor market, Millennials and Gen Z are finding significant success in artificial intelligence roles. Data shows that Gen Z employees make up more than two-thirds of new hires for highly sought-after positions, such as AI engineers and forward-deployed engineers.

According to Kory Kantenga, LinkedIn’s head of economics for America, the median salary for a typical role in the AI sector is approximately $177,000. Specifically, forward-deployed engineers and AI engineers earn median annual salaries of $199,000 and $166,000, respectively. This trend contrasts with general unemployment figures for the 22-27 age demographic, which stood at 7.2% in June.
