Linköping HC nears agreement to sign Sami Niku
Linköping HC is reportedly reaching an agreement to sign Finnish defenseman Sami Niku to replace Theodor Lennström, who is sidelined with an injury of unknown duration.
To facilitate the move, Lausanne HC has agreed to release the 29-year-old Niku from his contract, which was originally set to run until the spring of 2027. Lausanne is reportedly allowing the departure without a transfer fee to free up an import player slot.
Negotiations between Linköping management, including Andreas Hägglund and Broc Little, and Niku’s agent, Nick Sörensen, reportedly took place during a meeting in Malmö. The transaction has received approval from external financiers for Linköping, and the final personal and economic details regarding Niku’s departure from the Swiss National League are being finalized.
