Links Healthcare to acquire 20 Maine nursing homes from First Atlantic

First Atlantic Healthcare is in the early stages of selling its portfolio of 20 nursing homes and assisted-living facilities in Maine to Links Healthcare Group, a San Diego-based operator. The transition comes as the founders of First Atlantic prepare for retirement.

The facilities involved span nine Maine counties and encompass more than 1,300 beds. This transaction represents a significant shift in Maine’s long-term care landscape, which has seen one in four nursing homes close since 2015.

Links Healthcare Group currently operates at least 32 facilities across California and Tennessee. The sale is expected to be completed before the end of the year, pending state approval. First Atlantic officials stated that residents and families should expect to continue receiving the same level of care during the transition.
