Linn Gestblom to miss biathlon season due to pregnancy

Swedish biathlete Linn Gestblom has announced her pregnancy, confirming she will miss the upcoming 2026-2027 season. The 32-year-old Olympic medalist expects to become a parent in March.

Gestblom is the latest in a series of Swedish biathlon stars to step away for maternity reasons. Earlier this summer, Hanna Öberg announced she and Martin Ponsiluoma would also be expecting a child this winter. The news has drawn widespread support from the Swedish skiing community, including fellow athletes Sebastian Samuelsson and Frida Karlsson.

In separate news, a building in Snättringe, south of Stockholm, was destroyed by fire following an arson attack. Witnesses reported individuals smashing a window and throwing a burning object into a building housing a real estate office and a pizzeria. Authorities have reclassified the investigation from aggravated criminal damage to arson.
