Linq Buslines folds following fatal Greta wedding crash
Linq Buslines Pty Ltd and its associated companies, Royle Pacific Investments Pty Ltd and Double Investments Pty Ltd, have entered voluntary liquidation. The company was involved in the June 2023 Greta crash in the Hunter Valley, which resulted in 10 deaths and 25 injuries when a coach carrying wedding guests rolled.
An Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) report indicates the company owes more than $650,000 in fines related to heavy vehicle breaches. The company holds approximately $265,000 in cash, which is subject to administration costs. Other debts include undetermined amounts owed to various accounting and law firms.
The liquidation follows the sentencing of driver Brett Button, who received a maximum of 32 years in prison for causing the deaths. Additionally, Mitchell Gaffney, the groom who booked the coach, has launched civil action against the company alleging deceitful conduct.
