Linux distributions release critical security patches for kernels and infrastructure

Multiple major Linux distributions, including Ubuntu, Debian, Rocky Linux, Fedora, and RHEL, have released critical security updates addressing kernel vulnerabilities and infrastructure flaws.

Kernel patches target various issues, such as WiFi mesh packet injection, AMD Zen 2 cache isolation flaws, and vulnerabilities affecting networking, storage, and x86 crypto subsystems. These updates are particularly vital for cloud environments like AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, as well as virtualization hosts and shared systems where an unpatched host could impact multiple workloads.

Beyond the kernel, significant updates were issued for essential infrastructure and runtime tools. Redis and SPIP received patches for memory problems and remote code execution risks. Other critical fixes were released for curl, Podman, BIND, MySQL, PHP, and Python to address authentication bypasses, container escapes, and SQL injection vulnerabilities.
