Anthropic has launched a desktop beta of its Claude AI assistant for Linux, bringing core features such as Chat, Claude Cowork and Claude Code to Ubuntu and Debian. The beta is distributed via an apt‑repository and targets enterprise workflows, though the "Computer Use" and voice‑input capabilities are not yet available. A built‑in sandboxed browser was added to Claude Code, allowing developers to view documentation and repositories without leaving the application.

Separately, the Linux kernel now includes basic device‑tree patches that enable the Apple M3 Pro, M3 Max and M3 Ultra silicon to boot a minimal Linux console. The support is limited to a text‑only environment without graphics, Wi‑Fi or other peripherals, representing an early step toward fuller Linux compatibility on Apple’s latest hardware.

Both developments highlight ongoing efforts to broaden Linux’s reach across software tools and emerging hardware platforms.
