Linux Kernel receives audio hardware and AES encryption updates

The Linux Kernel is receiving significant updates involving both audio hardware support and cryptographic infrastructure.

Version 7.3 introduces extensive audio subsystem expansions. Key updates include support for a wide range of new platforms and codecs, such as next-generation AMD ACP7.B and ACP7.F audio co-processors for Ryzen laptops, Qualcomm LPI MI2S and SM8475 interfaces, and various Realtek audio chips used in laptops and embedded systems. Additionally, the update adds support for the Pioneer DJ DJM-S11 professional mixer, enhancing Linux compatibility for music production environments.

Simultaneously, a major restructuring of AES encryption handling has been integrated into the mainline kernel. Led by developer Eric Biggers and approved by Linus Torvalds, the update introduces new APIs to the libcrypto library. This change aims to replace older, more complex, and inefficient implementations with a more direct and modern standard. The new APIs provide native support for widely used AES modes, including ECB, CBC, CTR, GCM, and CCM, which will improve system maintainability and reduce the potential for human error in security implementations.
