Linux kernel receives critical security patches for eBPF and privilege escalation flaws
The Linux kernel has undergone several significant security updates to address multiple vulnerabilities. A specific security advisory, CVE-2026-93127, identifies a flaw in the eBPF verifier. This error could allow a program to access memory outside of approved boundaries due to an incorrect understanding of processed values. While no confirmed exploitation has been reported, administrators are advised to install supported kernel updates and review user permissions for loading eBPF programs.
Additionally, four privilege escalation flaws—named DirtyAH6, TUNderflow, PPPoEject, and DiagSpill—were patched following the release of public exploit code. These vulnerabilities could allow local users to gain root access.
In broader ecosystem news, NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW launched a native application on Ubuntu. However, the Linux gaming landscape faces setbacks with the halt of the PS5 Linux project and Ubisoft dropping support for For Honor on the Steam Deck.
