Linz authorities use AI to trace Legionnaires' disease source

Health authorities in Linz are investigating a Legionnaires' disease outbreak that has infected 28 people and resulted in three deaths. Investigators are currently focusing on two potential sources: a site associated with Linz AG on Wiener Straße and another location in the Linz industrial area east of the city highway.

To assist in the search, officials are utilizing artificial intelligence to analyze aerial imagery to identify potential emitters that may not have been captured in previous sampling. While more than 150 water samples have been collected, health officials have assured the public that drinking water is not affected. Determining the exact source through laboratory subtype comparison may take several weeks.
