Linz city officials meet to address budget consolidation

The Linz City Senate is convening a special session on October 1 to address the consolidation of the city's budget. Mayor Dietmar Prammer emphasized that all political parties represented in the Senate share responsibility for the financial foundation of the city.

City Councilor for Economy, Innovation, and Finance, Thomas Gegenhuber, has initiated a consolidation process supported by the consulting firm BDO. The goal is to stabilize the short-term situation to create a viable budget for 2027, with a medium-term objective to improve the operating result by approximately 65 million euros.

The current deficit is attributed to three primary factors: high demands from the state, increased material and personnel costs driven by inflation, and reduced revenue resulting from a poor economic climate.
