Linz Police Raid Illegal Massage Studio, Arrest Suspects in Forced Chinese Prostitution Ring
In July 2025 the Linz city police command and the Linz magistrate launched a coordinated operation targeting illegal residential and hotel prostitution in the city. The raid uncovered an unlicensed massage studio where several women, none of whom held valid Austrian residence permits, were found. The majority of those women were Chinese nationals.
Investigators determined that the premises were used to provide illegal sexual services, prompting suspicions of pimping and cross‑border prostitution trafficking. House searches yielded cash, mobile phones and other IT devices as evidence. The suspects are now facing charges of pimping, cross‑border human‑trafficking, false statements, money laundering and document forgery. Authorities say the women were lured from China with promises of well‑paid work in Chinese‑run establishments, were heavily indebted, had their passports confiscated on arrival, and were forced into prostitution in Austria and Germany. The trafficking route reportedly passed through Serbia and Italy using forged documents and smuggling networks. Further investigations into the financial links and overseas connections are ongoing.
