Linzer Schauspielhaus premieres new production of Romeo and Juliet
The Linzer Schauspielhaus has premiered a new production of William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” directed by David Bösch. Based on a translation by Thomas Brasch, the production is described as an action-packed and witty interpretation of the classic tragedy.
To engage the local community, the theater hosted an exhibition in its foyers featuring over 300 love letters written and recorded by residents of Linz. The production utilizes a timeless setting and occasionally breaks the fourth wall, incorporating modern elements such as mobile phone notifications for stage directions.
The performance features a moving balcony set and received enthusiastic applause from the audience upon its debut.
