Lionard Luxury Real Estate puts 12th‑Century fortified masseria in Puglia on market

Lionard Luxury Real Estate is offering for sale a 12th‑century fortified masseria in the province of Brindisi, Puglia. The historic property covers more than 2,400 m² of built space and sits on a 50‑hectare estate that can be expanded to about 100 ha. It lies just one kilometre from the Adriatic Sea and the Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve, with Brindisi International Airport a few minutes away.

The masseria’s origins date to 1107 when the Lombard princess Sichelgaita di Salerno donated the land to the Benedictine monastery of Brindisi. Ownership later passed to Princess Eleonora Caracciolo and subsequently to the Dentice family, who governed the Carovigno area for centuries. Over the years the estate has hosted European royalty, including King Victor Emmanuel III, Queen Elena, Queen Paola of Belgium and King Albert II. The sale includes the main building, a dependence, a Renaissance tower, a white‑stone façade, a merloned tower, centuries‑old cypresses, an interior courtyard with full‑arch vaults, and a small deconsecrated church with a sail‑shaped bell tower.
