Lionel Messi arrives in Argentina for national team farewell match FAST-MOVING

Lionel Messi has arrived in his hometown of Rosario, Argentina, to prepare for his final official match with the Argentina national team. The 39-year-old captain, who has recorded 207 appearances and 125 goals for the national side, is scheduled to play his farewell match against Benin on Tuesday, October 6, at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires.

Messi arrived via private flight accompanied by his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, his three children, and his mother. Before joining the national team's training camp in Ezeiza, he is expected to spend time in Funes. While he is not confirmed to play in the upcoming friendly against Burkina Faso this Saturday, he may attend the match at the Monumental to support his teammates.

In recognition of his career, the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) has unanimously decided to award Messi its highest honorary degree on the day of his farewell match. Additionally, a Fan Fest titled ‘Gracias, Leo’ will be held at the UBA Sports Field near the stadium, offering fans music, food, and a large screen to follow the event. Tickets for the match against Benin are already sold out.
