Lionel Messi early Barcelona scouting reports revealed

Handwritten scouting reports from Lionel Messi’s early days at Barcelona’s La Masia have surfaced. Shared by journalist Florent Torchut, the three reports date back to the autumn of 2000, when Messi was 13 years old.

The evaluations presented conflicting views on the young player. One scout praised his technical quality, vision, agility, and intelligence, comparing him to Maradona and urging an immediate signing. Another report expressed significant concerns regarding his physical stature, noting his height of 142 centimeters and thin build, suggesting he might struggle to compete in higher age groups despite his undeniable talent.

The release of these notes coincides with the 22nd anniversary of Messi’s first appearance for Barcelona’s senior team against Espanyol on October 16, 2004.
