Lionel Messi gifts personalized mate kits to Argentine teammates after World Cup

Captain Lionel Messi presented each member of Argentina’s national football team with a customised mate‑drinking kit after the squad finished as runners‑up at the 2026 World Cup. The set includes a brown leather bag bearing the player’s name, the Argentine Football Association crest and the World Cup 2026 logo, a gold‑coloured Stanley thermos mug, a traditional mate cup, yerba‑mate packets and a metal straw.

The gifts were shown in a TikTok video by Kelci‑Rose Bowers, a former Bournemouth footballer and girlfriend of defender Marcos Senesi. Bowers displayed the bag given to Senesi, noting that he asked her to keep it safe and take it to Miami. She said, “Messi gave this present to all the players.” The gesture was interpreted as a way to recognise the squad after their loss to Spain in the final, where Argentina earned silver medals.

The personalised kits are estimated to be worth roughly 90,000–100,000 Hungarian forints (about $300) each, reflecting the limited‑edition design and included Stanley merchandise.
