Lionel Messi purchases hybrid Sunreef yacht and attends Messi Cup

Argentine footballer Lionel Messi has commissioned a Sunreef 88 Ultima, a high-performance hybrid motor catamaran being constructed in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. The vessel, valued at approximately €8 million, measures 26.8 meters in length and 9 meters in width. Designed by the Polish shipyard Sunreef Yachts, the boat features two 1,000 HP engines, custom batteries, and a solar covering system to prioritize energy efficiency. The interior utilizes sustainable wood, recycled plastics, and reclaimed fabrics.

In a separate event in Miami, Messi attended the opening ceremony of the Messi Cup 2026. During his speech to U16 players from 16 international clubs, including Barcelona and Manchester City, Messi humorously acknowledged he had spoken for too long in Spanish without allowing his translator to intervene, stating, “I forgot you have to translate, I made it a bit long, didn't I?”
