Argentine football star Lionel Messi has been honored with the prestigious Princess of Asturias Award for Sports in Oviedo, Spain. The award recognizes his illustrious career and his philanthropic efforts to improve access to healthcare and education for disadvantaged children.

During the ceremony, Messi received a formal parchment from Princess Leonor, the heir to the Spanish throne, who praised his unique career. The 39-year-old forward, who currently plays for Inter Miami in MLS, reflected on his professional journey, noting that the most important lesson is knowing how to win and how to lose.

Messi also expressed deep nostalgia for his time at FC Barcelona, stating he holds a special love for the city and the club. He emphasized that his career peak was winning the 2022 World Cup with Argentina, an achievement that surpassed his boldest dreams.
