Lionel Messi sets MLS record for goal contributions
Lionel Messi has set a new Major League Soccer (MLS) record, becoming the first player in league history to record at least 30 goal contributions in three different seasons.
During Inter Miami’s 2-2 draw against Atlanta United, Messi provided two assists. This performance brought his season totals to 18 goals and 12 assists through 24 matches. This milestone follows a recent standout performance where he scored four goals in a single match against CF Montreal.
These achievements come shortly after Messi officially announced his retirement from the Argentina national team. His international career concluded following the 2026 World Cup, leaving a legacy of 207 caps, 125 goals, and 68 assists, alongside titles such as the 2022 World Cup and multiple Copa America trophies.
