Lionel Messi scores 930th career goal in Inter Miami draw
Lionel Messi reached a career milestone of 930 official goals after scoring a signature free kick during Inter Miami’s 2-2 draw against San Diego FC in Major League Soccer. The goal, scored in the 24th minute, marked Messi’s 75th career free-kick goal and his 20th of the current MLS season.
Despite Messi’s milestone and a second-half goal from Luis Suárez in the 74th minute, Inter Miami was unable to secure a victory. San Diego’s Anders Dreyer scored twice, including an 82nd-minute equalizer that prevented Miami from taking all three points. This result marks Inter Miami’s fourth consecutive draw in the league.
Inter Miami currently sits in third place in the Eastern Conference with 46 points, trailing the leader, Nashville, by 11 points. Messi’s goal count continues to narrow the gap with Cristiano Ronaldo, who currently holds 979 career goals.
