Lionel Messi's tattoos reflect personal and family milestones

Argentine footballer Lionel Messi possesses a collection of tattoos that serve as personal markers for significant life events and family members. One of his oldest tattoos, dating back to approximately 2011, is a portrait of his mother, Celia, located on his upper left back.

Messi has several tattoos dedicated to his children, including a handprint of his first son on his leg and the name ‘Thiago’ inside a heart. In 2015, he added the name of his second son, Mateo, to his left arm. His connection to his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, is also represented by a tattoo of their wedding date in Roman numerals on his ring finger.

Other notable ink includes religious imagery such as a rosary, an eye, a clock, and the face of Jesus on his right arm. While his left leg was previously covered in roses and footballs, he later chose to cover most of it with black ink, leaving only his number 10, a football, and a tattoo for his eldest son visible.
