Lionel Richie Hospitalized After Dizziness Cuts Opening Tour Show; Two Dates Postponed
On the opening night of the "Sing a Song All Night Long" North American tour with Earth, Wind & Fire, Lionel Richie’s concert at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota was halted after the 77‑year‑old singer reported feeling dizzy. He sat down during “Dancing on the Ceiling,” later performed “Three Times a Lady” from the piano, announced an unscheduled intermission and left the stage. Paramedics escorted him backstage and he was taken by ambulance to a local hospital as a precaution.
The band’s saxophonist Dino Soldo later informed the audience that Richie was not well enough to continue, ending the show permanently. Live Nation announced that the next two scheduled shows – Chicago (June 26) and Columbus, Ohio (June 27) – were postponed on doctors’ advice, with a planned return in Pittsburgh. No official statement on Richie’s health has been released, and fans are awaiting updates.
