Lionel Richie hospitalized after mid‑show illness, postpones two U.S. tour dates

During a concert at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota, 77‑year‑old singer Lionel Richie experienced dizziness, fell to a seat multiple times and was taken by ambulance to a hospital as a precaution. His family and band members expressed concern while he indicated he wanted to return to performing quickly.

Live Nation announced that, on doctors’ advice, Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire will postpone the next two shows – scheduled for June 26 in Chicago and June 27 in Columbus – and aim to resume the tour on June 30 in Pittsburgh. The incident occurs early in the “Sing A Song All Night Long” tour, which visits 26 U.S. cities this summer.
