Lionel Richie cancels tour dates following heart procedure

Singer Lionel Richie is pausing his tour to recover from a heart procedure. The 77-year-old underwent an ablation to treat atrial fibrillation (AFib), a common heart arrhythmia. A representative stated that the procedure went “perfectly” and that Richie is doing well, though he requires time off to rest.

As a result of the medical intervention, three upcoming tour dates with Earth, Wind & Fire have been canceled: San Francisco on September 26, Chicago on September 30, and Columbus, Ohio on October 2. This marks the third time Richie has faced health-related hospitalizations since June, following previous incidents in Minnesota and St. Louis.

Despite the tour pause, Richie is expected to resume performing soon. His upcoming “King of Hearts” residency at the Wynn Las Vegas is currently scheduled to begin on October 14.
