Lionel Scaloni marks eight years leading Argentina national team

Lionel Scaloni is marking eight years as the head coach of the Argentina national football team. Since taking over as an interim manager in September 2018 following the World Cup in Russia, Scaloni has led the team through a highly successful era, securing four major titles: the 2021 Copa América, the 2022 Finalissima, the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and the 2024 Copa América. His tenure also includes reaching the final of the 2026 World Cup.

Reflecting on his eight-year journey, Scaloni has managed 104 matches, achieving 76 wins, 18 draws, and 10 losses. This record includes a 36-match unbeaten streak between 2019 and 2022. His era began with a 3-0 victory over Guatemala in Los Angeles, a match that introduced several players who would eventually become world champions.
