Lionel Scaloni confirmed to stay as Argentina coach until December

He said the project continues and that the focus now shifts to upcoming competitions.

AFA president Claudio “Chiqui” Tapia voiced the federation’s backing, stating, “I want him to stay; the plan is Scaloni.” Tapia added that the AFA’s executive committee unanimously supports extending Scaloni’s contract, though the final decision rests with the coach. No alternative candidates have been identified, and the team has no scheduled matches in the immediate future.

Scaloni’s contract runs through December 2026, and any further extension will be negotiated after the current term.
