Lions Appingedam Delfzijl donates 750 euros to Zanzibar school

Lions Appingedam Delfzijl has donated 750 euros to a school on the island of Zanzibar, Tanzania. The funds were presented to Ellen van Beers, the founder of the initiatives ‘More Africa’ and ‘Blooming Zanzibar’.

More Africa provides a nursery school, primary school, day activities, and a physiotherapy department aimed at creating equal opportunities for children and youth with disabilities. The goal is to provide care, education, and training to help them live as independently as possible.

Blooming Zanzibar operates as a guesthouse where profits from accommodations and the restaurant are directed entirely toward the school. This model allows tourists to experience the projects firsthand through sustainable tourism and volunteer opportunities. Recent donations have been used to provide learning materials and educational tools for the students.
