Lions Club District 02 calls for flood preparedness in Argentina

Stella Maris Stewart, Governor of Lions Club District 02, has called for coordinated action between civil institutions and municipalities to prepare for the anticipated impact of the El Niño phenomenon. During a visit to Concordia, Argentina, Stewart warned of the potential for severe weather, noting that the region could experience extreme rainfall between October and January.

To mitigate the risks of flooding, District 02—which encompasses 68 clubs across the provinces of Formosa, Misiones, Chaco, Entre Ríos, Corrientes, and Santa Fe—is working to stockpile food and hygiene products. Stewart emphasized the importance of preventive measures to avoid loss of life and highlighted the role of local initiatives, such as the Food Bank in Concordia, in supporting vulnerable populations during emergencies.

Beyond climate preparedness, Stewart addressed broader social concerns, including the expansion of mental health programs to combat rising adolescent suicide rates and the need for institutional support to address violence and the exploitation of minors.
