Lions Club launches social solidarity campaigns in Southern Italy

The Lions Club, through District 108 YA, has launched several humanitarian initiatives in Southern Italy to combat social exclusion and support education.

In Reggio Calabria, the Lions Club Reggio Calabria Host is starting a campaign to collect and regenerate used eyeglasses. This initiative follows a circular economy model where donated eyewear is sanitized, repaired, and redistributed for free to those in need. The project aims to address visual impairments that can hinder social, educational, and professional integration.

Additionally, the Lions Club is promoting the first 'Zaino Sospeso Day' (Suspended Backpack Day) across Campania, Basilicata, and Calabria. This solidarity project encourages citizens to donate school supplies, such as notebooks, backpacks, and stationery, to support families facing economic difficulties at the start of the school year. Local institutions, such as the municipality of Sala Consilina, are collaborating to identify families in need through social services.
