Lions Club Sorpesee distributes 12,000 euros from duck race

The Lions Club Sorpesee has distributed 12,000 euros in proceeds from its annual duck race to various social institutions and regional initiatives. President Elisabeth Vielhaber presented the donations to seven organizations focused on children, youth, water rescue, and social inclusion.

Recipients include the Family and Educational Counseling Center in Sundern, which will use the funds for an ADHD self-help group, and the Association for the Promotion of Youth Welfare to support the new 'Haus der Jugend'. The DLRG groups in Langscheid and Amecke also received support for their water rescue and first-responder training services.

Additional funds were allocated to the food banks (Tafeln) in Balve and Plettenberg, the 'Gemeinsam Leben – gemeinsam Lernen' initiative for inclusive carriage driving, and the Voltiflöhe e. V. club in Voßwinkel, which promotes inclusive vaulting. The next duck race is scheduled to take place in Amecke on May 1, 2027.
