Lions Club Waldkirch‑Elztal Celebrates 40 Years of Service in Germany

The Lions Club Waldkirch‑Elztal marked its 40th anniversary with a modest ceremony at the SickAkademie in Buchholz, Germany. Club president Mario Eggen welcomed neighboring club presidents, local mayors, and Bundestag member Johannes Fechner. Daniela Schweizer, governor of Lions Deutschland (District 111), attended from Konstanz and praised the club’s "extraordinary and diverse achievements," noting that the club has donated roughly €500,000 to charitable projects over four decades.

During the event, founding members Bernd Einhaus, Frieder Wagner, Karl Alpers and Eberhard Hirschbolz were honoured, as were long‑serving members Rochus Becherer and Felix Thümmel. A panel discussion featured club representatives and Michael Schmieder, mayor of Waldkirch, who thanked the Lions for their sustained community support.
